Our Own Senator Byrd Remembers Growing Up in Mercer County

After reading this story about our beloved Senator Robert Byrd by Mercer County's Author Reporter Bill Archer in today's Bluefield Daily Telegraph I really appreciated our Senator even more than I did before reading it.  Last year at the Mercer County Democratic Party's annual Bean Dinner we were treated to Senator Byrd remembering his youth in Mercer County as he deviated from a prepared speech that he never delivered. What a great speech he gave remembering names and places that played an important part in shaping his life.

I have only lived here for 18 years, and I have great respect for our own Senator Byrd and what he has brought to our state with his years of dedicated service.  You can read Bill Archer's story by clicking here.

Note that the Bluefield Daily Telegraph is now providing a complete edition of the daily paper as it is delivered daily on line.  The picture above is taken from the "eedition" of the paper which can be read in its entirety free for a period of time.  Check the eedition on line here.
