Why Edwards won out over Obama in Netroots support

BooMan has a more cogent and articulate explanation for Why the Blogosphere Went for Edwards than my brief summary earlier this week.

It's a highly instructive piece for anyone trying to understand why some candidates pick up strong Netroots support when others -- even with more progressive policy positions -- don't.

Obama is more temperate (0.00 / 0)
in language than Edwards. But Edwards's language is FAR MORE TEMPERATE than booman and other netroots writers. There is an epidemic of intemperate language in the blogosphere.

Booman inaccurately quotes  Edwards as saying "fuck" this or that. I doubt it. Is this helpful?  I think not.

Netroots influence is considerable.  However, in terms of political rhetoric, we need a moderation that will help bring a new consensus.

The needed rhetoric can fall somewhere between Edwards and Obama, but it can't really incorporate the kind incendiary (flaming) rhetoric that is so prevalent in the blogosphere.
