Background
• In December, the House voted for an amendment to the Intelligence Authorization conference report that would restrict every agency and   US agent, even the CIA, to the interrogation techniques permitted by the Army Field Manual.
• The manual specifically prohibits several of the techniques alleged to have been used by the CIA in secret prisons, including waterboarding, sexual humiliation and the use of dogs.
• With the use of waterboarding by the CIA being publicly confirmed, and the refusal of the Attorney General to state that simulated drowning is torture, it is imperative that the Senate vote for this amendment in order to stop the use of torture by any US agent, anywhere in the world.

Go to here to write your Senator.

If you're from WV: Because both Senators Byrd and Rockefeller have been working hard on the issue, if you're from WV, use your own words
to modify the message to thank our senators for all their efforts to end torture. (As Chair of the Senator Intelligence Committee, Senator Rockefeller is in a position  of influence.)
• Urge them to do all they can to ensure that the Intelligence Authorization conference report amendment, providing for uniform interrogation standards for anyone in US custody or control, anywhere in the world, regardless of which agency is holding them, be  part of the final bill.

"Silence is the voice of complicity." - Latin proverb

Senator Rockefeller is in a position to influence the issue. Common humanity and a sense of decency should require him to be doing more than he has regarding the issue.
