What a maroon! (4.00 / 2)
Now if we could just find pictures of Benjamin with Blankenship... we might actually get both justice and the appearance of justice.

Benjamin asked to recuse himself as well... (4.00 / 1)

Yesterday Harman mining asked both Benjamin and Maynard to recuse themselves. You can read all about it by clicking here. Just looking at Benjamin's past with regard to recusing himself he may very likely not take the high road. Voters still have the opportunity to show "Spike" what they think about his behavior in the primaries by selecting 2 other candidates and sending "Spike" home. While only one Democrats has signed up so far there is evidence that we will see at least 2 or 3 other Democrats file including Maynard.

Justice Starcher has indicated that he is not going to run. He has been very vocal in expressing his displeasure with the behavior of Don Blankenship, Massey Energy, and his fellow Justices Benjamin and Maynard. I think that the ethics issue regarding buying of court seats and in turn the loyalty of a Judge should be a major topic in the primaries and not something we wait to talk about in November when there is a Republican on the ballot as well.

If Maynard loses... it should be in the primary. Personally I like Robert "Bob" Bastress who teaches Constitutional Law at WVU, and has run for the office in the past. Click here for more info. I've met both Maynard and Bastress, and heard them speak. If there is a chance to clean the air up on the court it needs to be done during the primaries in May.
