Well, well, well maybe we'll have a race afterall though she's facing a tough row ahead of her. Anne Barth filed for WV-02.

Big tip of the hat to Steve.

UPDATE: More on Unger dropping out and Barth's 11th hour entry here in the Charleston Gazette's story.

good news (4.00 / 1)
This is good news. As someone who discouraged Anne Barth from running earlier, let me say I'm encouraged that she's running now.

I want to know more about where she stands on the issues. I really hope she's as progressive as people suggested before.

Barth has a big uphill battle ahead to raise funds, build name recognition and get through the primary. Still, her candidacy provides a chance for the seat to retain DCCC support.

I firmly believe 2008 is the very best chance we'll have unseat Capito. If Capito is re-elected the seat becomes hers for life.

When people suggested she was more progressive, they never listed any of her stances on any issues. They were just hoping. Well I join them in hoping too, but I know a lot of them were just projecting.

Anne's reluctance (0.00 / 0)
If Anne Barth was suddenly talked into running at the last minute, what was her hesitancy to run over the summer? And what happened to the loyalty to Bird she talked so openly about?

I hate to say this, but after announcing she had no intention of running over the summer and filing at the 11th hour on the 26th, will she really be a serious candidate? Does Anne really have what it takes inside of her to run a national race against an incumbent?

Good points.

Don't forget there is another ballot spot already established for the Mountain Party.

This is just the kind of stuff that caused their creation in the first place.
