This week brings two important milestones in the West Virginia 2008 election process:

Tuesday, April 22, 2008 - Last Day to Register to VOTE in the Primary Election

Wednesday, April 23, 2008 - Early VOTING Begins

Primary voting is really a 3 week affair of early voting followed by Primary Day on Tuesday, May 13.

Voting (0.00 / 0)
I don't plan to vote here in Kanawha County until the actual day of the primary.  I have two reasons for this.

1.  If I've already voted through early voting and then find out that the candidate I support really and truly does want to eat my children....

and
2.  We had a lot of problems with early ballots in the special election regarding table games.  If I recall correctly, some were even found after the vote was certified.

Vote early... pros/cons (0.00 / 0)
I do plan on voting early -- perhaps as early as the first week. I expect to have my mind fairly firmly made up within another week or two.

My recollection from voting early last election is that Morgan County does early voting on the same electronic machines as regular voting. I figure the odds of having my early vote disenfranchised are about the same as having my election day vote messed up.

My most important consideration is I want to have more flexibility on primary day for volunteering for campaigns. Early voting will free me up for that.
