Longtime incumbent and Republican minority leader in the Senate, Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is trailing Bruce Lunsford (D) in the polls!

McConnell - 44 (R)
Lunsford - 49 (R)

Could it be that Kentuckians have finally caught onto why McConnell's so vehemently against the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP)?

One Citizen :: Mitch McConnell Trailing in Kentucky!
background story:

In the Name of Big Tobacco, Republican Lawmakers Oppose Health Care for Poor Children

SCHIP Passes House; Bush still threatens veto.

Five million children of the working poor who would otherwise have no access to health care would be covered under expansion of the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP).

McConnell Forced to Release Internal Polling (4.00 / 1)
The Senate Minority Leader not only had to pay for a poll in his home state, he had to use the NRSC to push the story nationally.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) holds an 11-point lead over his Democratic opponent, businessman Bruce Lunsford, according to the McConnell campaign's internal polling released today.

Even his own internals are within striking distance.

and Obama is losing to McCain in Kentucky 57 to 32 percent.... (4.00 / 1)
which makes McConnell's deficit even worse news for him and the Republicans.

Kentuckians are tired of McConnell's obstructionism and his rubberstamping of Bush's policies and demand a change when they are ranked at or near the bottom in almost every economic categrory, just like our home state of West Virginia!

And Kentuckians have heavily disapproved of the Iraq War for quite some time now.

I think Kentucky is going to "Ditch Mitch" this year thank God!
