Once again proving that she is the Double-talking Champion of West Virginia, Bush Republican Rep. Shelley Moore Capito is accusing a Democrat of doing what she does. In psychological terms it's known as "projection." In Capito's case it's politics as usual from her.
From an email:
Capito's Playbook: Say One Thing in West Virginia; Do Another In Washington
Charleston - Shelley Moore Capito lambasted a Democratic candidate today for the very behavior that she practices. In a Charleston Daily Mail article published today, Capito said "What disturbs me most is he'll say one thing in front of an audience in one area and say something else in a different area."
I just want to interrupt here and point out what I've said all along: Capito's faux "civility caucus" was a political ploy. Time after time she's proven she'll say anything atrocious about her opponents, including accusing supporters of a timeline for withdrawal from Iraq as aiding the enemy. Of course, now that the Bush administration has agreed to a timeline for withdrawal from Iraq she's silent. She owes the people who were right on the Iraq war issue a deep apology for her uncivil remarks and she needs to stop lying, a very uncivil behavior that she engages in time after time. Capito is as "civil" as she is "independent."
Back to the email:
"Shelley Moore Capito has an established track record of saying one thing in West
Virginia and doing another in Washington," said Talley Sergent, spokesperson for the Anne Barth for Congress campaign. "On being an independent voice, on energy, on Social Security, on the minimum wage, on nearly every issue, Mrs. Capito will say anything to get elected.
"As Senator Moynihan once said, you are entitled to your own opinions, but not your own facts, and the fact is that Shelley Moore Capito is not being straight with the people of the Second District," Sergent said.

In West Virginia: "If we wait until a new president is in office, then it will be eight or nine months at the earliest (before a policy is in place)," she said. In Washington: On September 16, Capito voted against taking immediate action to tackle America's energy crisis. Capito voted against a bill that had millions of dollars for clean coal technology, coal-to-liquid research, and would open up the Outer Continental Shelf to drilling.
