General: Wrong! Conan! What is best in life?
Conan: To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women.
General: That is good! That is good. Conan the Barbarian (1982)
I took a break from phonebanking here at the Campaign for Change office in Martinsburg so I checked my email.
Here's one making the rounds leaving West Virginia Democrats speechless.
Here's the West Virginia Democratic Party's calendar of events. Go take a look at it. Follow the link now. I'll wait. That's important to do before you see what's below.
I showed this to Rod Snyder, president of the West Virginia Young Democrats who just stepped into the M'burg HQ and he said he's being run ragged with all of the events Democrats are holding across the state. Keep in mind Democrats in West Virginia control the Governor's mansion, four out of five of the Congressional caucus, 72 Ds to 28 Rs in the House of Delegates, 23 Ds to 11 Rs in the State Senate, 4 Ds to 1 R in the State Supreme Court, the Secretary of Agriculture, the Attorney General, the Auditor, Treasurer. We don't have the Secretary of State yet, but Natalie Tennant will win that since her opponent tried to withdraw to avoid the humiliation of the landslide.
We went Democrat in presidential until 2000 and 2004 and we're working hard to put it back in the D column this year. All the polls have been trending Obama's way here and ARG just showed Obama up by 8 points. Even if you don't think ARG's numbers are accurate, you've got to concede that at best we're in tossup calendar.
Now that is out of the way, look at the West Virginia Republican calendar of events.
That's it. That's the sign of a demoralized party.
Crush their spirits. We want to hear the lamentations of Shelley Moore Capito and Sarah Palin on Nov. 4.
