Latest counts show the Hulk is going down in Alaska. Begich up over Stevens. One more Senate pickup on the way for Dems.

There's still an outside chance Franken can pickup MN. It all comes down to how many of his voters were confused by the ballot on election day and voted in a way the scanner couldn't read. (Sigh... what a way to decide an election, eh?)

Winning the run-off in GA looks even more possible. If you have any family or friends in GA, tell them to get out there and vote for the Dem. for Senate!

I've already seen them pass along those kind of statements in their emails and blog posts. They live in their own version of reality where they're hard to satirize, but the majority of West Virginians have made us irrelevant for presidential elections, possibly for a generation.

Vermont-- as rural as West Virginia. And you're close to Quebec, should someone worse than Bush take over, like Palin, you can be across the border really quickly.

But McCain won 0 counties and only 4 towns (New England town system). And if global warming continues, Vermont will have West Virginia's climate.

Is more progressive than any governor we have had, except for Governor Matthew Neely. Neely would later become a Senator and an advocate for civil rights at the federal level (entirely the exact opposite of what West Virginians are labeled).

And our governor Hatfield was a Republican and a progressive. Vermont had a Republican governor (Aiken) who was probably the most progressive Republican governor in the history of the country. At one time there were lots of liberal Republicans, but no more.

I don't idealize Vermont. Really, I'd go to Saskatchewan, where the rural people formed the New Democratic Party under Tommy Douglas back in the 40's. I'm an agrarian populist, neo-Bryanite (not into Bryan's anti-Darwinian rants).

A Democratic Congressman (a progressive)

A Democratic  Senator (a progressive)

An Indpendent Socialist (who is definitely a progressive)

The legislature is even more Democratic than it was when it took over in 2006.

Oh, btw, Saskatchewan is no longer NDP Territory.
