Obama Plan=$79 billion from Cap-and-Trade in 2012 (0.00 / 0)
Did you see who was at the table Monday (0.00 / 0)
with Nancy, Harry, Ken, Al, Bill and Dr. Steve? T. Boone. Now I know we are supposed to talk nice to everyone now. But rather than taking wind power from the Dakotas to perpetuate suburban sprawl here on the East, why don't they want to leave it where it is generated and build an economy around the point source of the power generation?

If the energy greedy East needs more electrons, then find a way to either cut down demand, or generate it in place. No f'n high tension lines through my county. Put the nuclear plant outside Philly or NYC if they are such a great idea.

Obama believes... (0.00 / 0)
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Now, if only I can figure out which hand he's playing on energy...

T. Boone at the table is, alas, an example of how money buys access, isn't it?

Over the last three years, (0.00 / 0)
we, meaning the company I work for, have worked on the Capitol Power Plant and Visitor's Center. On NPR this morning I heard there will be a recommendation to move from coal, a Byrd and McConnell requirement, to natural gas.

huge change (4.00 / 1)
That would be a huge change and a much needed one.

Among other things, it would improve the health of the DC residents who have coal soot falling in their yards today. (Not that they've ever been given any say in the matter...)

Environmental economic "racism": sort of like MTR, huh? (0.00 / 0)
When they "discovered" left over napalm in San Diego [disclosure, my dad as a DOD contractor worked on the reliability issues for mixing for the motor that the two components of some sort of Vietnam era fire bomb] they came up with a way to "burn it" and turn it into another supposedly inert chemical. This was first proposed for the poorer side of Dayton, Ohio.

Eileen LeBlanc, a local reporter from the Antioch College radio station I met once, produced a piece questioning the safety of transport across the country and the processing planned. This was picked up by NPR, and the stuff was stuck on the train that was supposed to carry it East.

I love peace, and the peace dividend, but it did cost half the jobs at the Navy Weapons Center. The Navy base in the high desert where my dad had worked and younger brother now does work ended up storing the stuff in consideration in the next years personnel/budgeting cycle. My lil bro' got the best deal he could for the folks who still worked for him at the ranges.  The test ranges cover an area the same size as the state of Rhode Island.

Almost have to be corrupt or stupid to sign on to (0.00 / 0)
bring wind power from the Midwestern corridor to the northeastern market. That should be fed by off-shore, which where the meaningful wind capacity lies...and infintely more so than the Allegheny Front!
