Sarah Palin's pro choice argument (0.00 / 0)
Interesting how Sarah Palin is proud of the choice she made yet doesn't really want others to have a choice at all.

When a man embarks upon a crime, he is morally guilty of any other crime which may spring from it. Sherlock Holmes.

Wheeling editor praises domestic terrorists (4.00 / 1)
What do I mean by saying that? Well, it's the 10th anniversary of Columbine, the anniversary of Waco, and the anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombings. So how does the editor of the Wheeling newspapers mark this occasion?

Here's how:

Second Amendment Rights Under Fire
During an appearance last week, Pelosi made it clear that a gun registration law is high on liberal lawmakers' agenda. "We want them registered," she said of Americans' firearms.

---

It has been pointed out, however, that the high court's ruling in that case came on a vote of 5-4. Appointment of one additional liberal justice - which is probable during the Obama administration - could change that. A registration law would lay the groundwork for what Pelosi-style liberals have wanted for years - strict limits or outright bans on private ownership of guns.

---

Gun owners are correct to worry about Pelosi's plan. It may be the prelude to an all-out attack on Americans' Second Amendment rights.

Forgive me, but Mike Myer is one sick fuck.

to commiserate with you (0.00 / 0)
we her in the Eastern Panhandle are subjected to the editorial page of the Wheeling paper, usually on Mondays. Makes it easier her, huh.

And as usual, Ogden just prints a Capito press release, Capito urges coal industry tours. I won't bother with the link to the $3000 lie about emission controls.

Fascinating piece of blogging ethics (0.00 / 0)
Important stuff for anyone who posts comments and diaries here. Interesting read for everyone else, too.

Blogging Ethics by Aldon Hynes

(As an aside, Aldon is a long, long time blogger and a cool guy. He was driving down I-81 on W.Va. primary day and stopped by the Eastern Panhandle offices for several hours to help with local Obama efforts.)

Hippie Killer... (0.00 / 0)
Has a powerful new topic posted, on Ken Ward's revelatory story about the, um, Bayer "blast" in the Kanawha Valley late last summer:

If this type of thing happened (in Northern Virginia or) pretty much anywhere else in America, there would have already been a Lifetime TV movie made about it. Probably starring Kimberly Williams Paisley. Which is almost ironic.

Bayer aparently came a hair's width from killing hundreds, if not thousands of people, then predictably set about covering it all up. Nothing to see here. Please move along. I don't care how many goddamn jobs this place creates. It's not fucking worth it. They need to be making and storing this shit in the middle of the goddamn desert. You'd think the people around here would insist on that.

I'd also like to note that some absolutely stunning WV progressive community intellectual commentary continues in Hippie Killer's Tea-Bag Day topic/thread. That one's 160 comments strong and still growing. If you haven't checked it out, or haven't continued to follow, you should. It also evolved into some discussion of torture logic.

No doubt about it: If you want strong, diverse, colorful and exceptionally well-informed Mountain State opinions & points of view, the two best places to find them are West Virginia Blue and Hippie Killer:

Hey, has a former middle of the desert dweller (0.00 / 0)
I have to object to Hippie Killer's suggestion.

It's the secrecy that the chemical industry post 9/11 is hiding behind that is the problem.
