Video surveillance abuse in WV

While everyone in this country is inooncent until proven guilty, the alleged actions of two FBI workers in Marion County, WV should have everyone up in arms.

This is awful and a prime example as to why the ACLU challenges closed circuit video surveillance in addition to other forms of government spying.

Those who espose the necessity of vidieo surveillance often do so by maintaining those in charge of policing it will do no wrong.  Time and time again, as this incident points out, that rationale is proven incorrect.

are you (0.00 / 0)
saying a business has no right to monitor is property with the use of video?...and is this an incident of government spying or is it an incident of two warped individuals who happen to be gov't employees altering proper video monitoring for another purpose?...what is the fbi sattellite office...i need to know more and the article donsnt explain it well, at least to me...

i certainly (0.00 / 0)
dont condone what they did because it was wrong.. i am simply trying to figure out how one uses this incident to argue against private businesses or the government putting surveillance cameras in public places for the protection  persons and property...and i still am unclear as to what camera or device was used, whose it was and what purpose it served...

because as madison said men are not angels (0.00 / 0)
Beck says an FBI camera at a satellite control room in a mall recorded girls in open-topped dressing rooms, but it wasn't deliberate.

for the article in the link right below your comment so i won't re-link. al qaeda is now into cross dressing? the FBI has to be peeing tom's to catch insider trading on wall street?

where is your line? do you have daughters? why not a camera in your marital bedroom?

or are you with scalia and there is no right to privacy?
[the ben cardoza reference to inherited wealth made no sense to the in-law that has argued cases in front of SCOTUS]

to be argumentative are you comfortable with the obama administration now having all this power and as glenn beck said stopping the pendulum from swinging back (from bush tyranny of article II powers to respecting all the amendments not just the second adn putting article I the people's house first)?

i'll ask again, i thought you self identified as a libertarian. you answer how is this good?

i imagine a second floor or mezzanine space windowless with banks of tv monitors for all the real time cameras on mall property. however if it is "satellite" that means it is off premises and private property mall security is being melded with public space government security monitoring. what did they think was going on a the mall in fairmont that threatened national security or involved interstate crime?

i served on a gran jury once and was uncomfortable then with the "if you did nothing wrong then . . . " repeated by fellow jurors when it came to unjustified investigation for what i thought was a personal grudge by the prosecutor. six years later and no case has surfaced so i bet my gut was right.

some asked that face be removed from photo taken in a public place and re-posted here. it had already published in a newspaper. i think that person expected privacy for their family, and none for others of a different shade of politics.

the question at this point is what is the fbi doing at the mall? the dressing rooms cannot be considered public space. i would think surveillance of the entrance and exit at the area would deter shopping lifting.

Again what is the fbi doing there? that is why i raised the fusion center, local police getting dhs funds they become addicted to may have been the impetus of the mall, a private business, having their security video piped directly into a joint private/state/federal security room. i hope this stops because this turned into over the last 8 years. my first reaction to the creation of dhs was gestapo. all this talk of the homeland reminded me then of the motherland reference in the soviet union. my step-mother was an elementary school teach in southern siberia.

like i said the two cases that have come to light, colorado and maryland, catholic nuns working for peace, which the holy father asked us to pray for in 2002 as the rush to the iraq war spread, were labeled terrorists. quakers who are alwasy anti-war were under surveillance. i cannot image a franciscan nun or a member of the society of friends doing what timothy mcveigh did on our oldest daughter's birthday. its a waste of resources and a perversion of, you remember, the blessing of liberty .
