Joking about cloning aside - It's a serious subject. (0.00 / 0)
Just like with modified seed we have no way to know what gene mutations cloning human beings could cause.

If they can clone can they get around to producing a human being in entirety? ......... If so will that human being be legally a autonomous human being or considered the property of the firm that cloned them?

More than likely they would be property as otherwise there would be no money to be made in the procedure. IE why clone humans that can just walk away anytime they wish?  The world can still make humans that can do that the old fashioned way.

So cloning does present lots of ethical and civil as well as medical concerns.

And who said anything about cloning? (0.00 / 0)
The EO that 44 signed talked about donated fertility clinic eggs. Period. Another red herring.

And I may have said something about how I think those IVF clinics need better medical regulation like in other countries.

Maybe I got it wrong berkley (0.00 / 0)
The link to the  article the Obsidian Wings speaks about cloning.

Here is a quote from the site

Quote  I've got to hand it to Ed Whelan - he's done some fine sleuthing.  He'd be a solid investigative reporter.  For instance, he's pretty much exposed the liberal conspiracy to make the world safe for cloning:

Indeed, in coming years, Souter's replacement may well provide the fifth vote for: . . . the invention of a constitutional right to human cloning. end quote

Seems they are making fun of right wingers for their opposition to human cloning. Making fun of such a weighty subject in my view is hardly the way to go about discussing it.

I am all for stem cell research , but against cloning just as I am against genetic modification of plants and seeds........... that is the point I was making.

If this isn't about cloning and the article wasn't about cloning then perhaps carnackis link is taking me to the wrong site.

no, it was the leap that produced the satire (0.00 / 0)

I understand the comedic value of the post from carnicki's link. (0.00 / 0)
Honestly though........ can we defeat a movement that has so long ridiculed and made fun of progressives by turning around and making fun of them in return?

Good for the goose good for the gander seems to be the theme .

But I just don't see how that will do anything but alienate folks who might actually have been open minded enough to consider the other sides point of view.

Instaputz, Wonkette, John Stewart, Stephen Colbert (0.00 / 0)
Satire and irony are different than vitriol and derision. Even David Frum called the right Anger Theater. And the right thinks Stephen Colbert is one of them.

John Cole at Balloon Juice, a former W. Va. Republican, has categories for each diary. Some examples are:
    Clown Shoes
I Read These Morons So You Don't Have To
Republican Crime Syndicate - aka the Bush Admin.

Harpers of the 1880's, Will Rodgers in our real young 'uns days? That is tame stuff compared to the Jefferson Hamilton feud in the papers.

I have to look up the ;-) for tongue planted firmly in cheek. I think faster than I can type sometimes. A couple of the posters here have run across me during various campaigns, and they filter my posts through that vera voce.

My one daughter was joking this morning about my style of my glasses and the other one was wondering if they would make the windshield in prescription strength.

The ............... was as much about me as you. I know you can post the way you want. I don't ask the grammar-nazi kid to read my stuff, believe you me, but when I got in the middle of a long simmering battle of ideas by mistake some suggested maybe I should. MR Ducks. AR Not. SA Are. It rolled off.

Berkley I have defended your posting style all ready in our short acquaintance. (0.00 / 0)
I don't feel anybody has the right to silence another's voice because of grammar and spekking.................or all the ..................... they want to do.

So keep on keeping on berkley and I shall do the same.
