Don Surber: tax sick people

by: Carnacki

Tue Jun 09, 2009 at 15:06:00 PM EDT

The sad thing is Don Surber of the Charleston Daily Mail thinks he's being funny when he suggests taxing AIDS sufferers to change behavior since he's a raging homophobe. So not only does he not recognize that people don't choose to be gay, he ignores that people can contract AIDS through other ways besides gay sex.

Surber better hope there's never a tax on stupidity or bigotry because there's not enough money in the world to cover what he'd owe.

he looks like he should be afraid of the biscuit tax (0.00 / 0)
there are nurses in the family and they are at the front line
is our family blessed because no one sufferd the result of the "occupational hazard"?

our country has been testing blood for HIV since 1985
there are still one million new infections due to inadequate protocol in other countries

blood was not adequately tested for hepatitis c until after 1990
hepatitis c was transmitted in tissue donations, with revision to the protocol still in 2005

that "reader" forgot the rejection by both mississippi and south dakota, which shocked republicans, of challenges to roe last year

Well, I would respond (4.00 / 1)
But I've been banned from posting comments on Don Surber's blog. Maybe it was calling him "white trash" that caused that?

it did not make it? (0.00 / 0)

"Organic food - it runs a higher risk of e-coli, so we gotta tax you"

I wash everything, period. See if my memory serves me on the last couple of food-born illnesses:
1. Industrial peanut butter, and they knew they had a problem, sold at W@lM@rt-NOT organic
2. Major label bagged spinach next to industrial antibiotic fed dairy cows-NOT organic
Now those serrano chili peppers from Mexcio, maybe they were organic. That is why I am glad the label let's me decide what to buy if I want something that is not at the farm market at the end of the road.

"Abortions - you engaged in risky behavior that led to 'medical condition' (aka pregnancy), so we gotta tax you."

Even both the Mississippi and South Dakota electorate refused to pass a law that was specifically designed to challenge Roe in court, so that may not get you far either.

"Condom tax - condoms aren't foolproof, you're risking getting a STD so we gotta tax you."

The risk of throat cancer is sharply increased by the presence of the same virus that causes cervical cancer, HPV . Most people never figure out how they acquired HepC, for example. It is silent for a decade or two, and anyone who received a blood product before 1990 was at risk then without knowing.

Now, how about that compassionate and conservative biscuit tax?
