Clem and I are in the front row watching a panel discussion with Howard Dean discussing health care.  Dean does not mince words and makes it really clear what he believes will work and will not work.

He frames the health care debate better than anyone else.  He really believes that the administration will win the battle, and that we will see a health care program this year.  I hope he is right.  He stated that he believes that the only part of the bill that matters is the public option.  Be sure and catch this discussion on second life or on Cspan.

Concerning health care.  This topic is very important for everyone in our country and our state.  His committment has made him the most important spokesman in the country on the health issue.

From memory, Dr. Dean says it comes down to two simple points:

#1. We should all have the same health care options Congresspeople have.

#2. Do you side with individuals or with insurance companies?

Doing nothing is not an option.

Sen. Spector said the votes are their for cloture in the Senate. He also more or less said the Senate Finance committee will pass out a bill with a public option (because the majority of the Dems. on that committee support one).
