Tintin makes a good point:

If West Virginia would like to start doing something to counter the stereotype that all of its citizens are illiterate, it could start by snatching Surber from his office at the Charleston Daily Mail, shackling him, and stuffing him into the back of a Cessna headed for Mississippi.

doing this, west virginia can further solidify its reputation for tolerance...

You're the one always wanting to get rid of the trash. I say we start throwing out Surber ;)

Steve's sudden Kum-by-yah moment makes me wanna retch. (4.00 / 1)
But I should learn to silently stifle my gag reflex, at least according to a certain local cadreof Christian conservatives. Yes, lawd, we Appalachian-American libruls must all remember that its our place to smile politely and quietly tolerate the rightwing mendacity of coalfired idiots like Surber and his sidekick steve.

Stevewvu ol' pal, I didn't marry Surber so don't expect me to put up with him, or you either.

Lucky for you both.

As long as white trash values dominate the State.

I wholeheartedly agree. (0.00 / 0)
Trash like this should have been run out on a rail long ago.

is not a defense to intolerance to point fingers at the other side saying look they do it too.....

how about misinformation and defense of torture? (4.00 / 1)
that still to be tolerated for the sake of the children?

that makes me very sad (0.00 / 0)
there was no basis for cheney's claim that torture worked.

Although some useful information was produced, the report concluded that "it is difficult to determine conclusively whether interrogations have provided information critical to interdicting specific imminent attacks," according to the Justice Department's declassified summary of it.

the false confessions were to prop up the lie that was the reason for the war in iraq.

we've been thru this and theres no sense rehashing/defending our respective positions...you object to certain harsh interrogation techniques that you call torture, i approve of them...enough said...the issue in this discussion relates to running don surber out of state for his views...i call that intolerant, which it is and i find it surprising coming from folks who perceive themselves as the bastions of tolerance for free speech...and i am not defending the substance of any surber article...hell, i bet i've only read a handful of them...

i don't "call" it torture (0.00 / 0)
that is what is is. i wonder why the AG is opening up a criminal investigation. i wonder why when other countries do it we call it torture. tolerating the executive power grab, putting the country and both the execution and interpretation of its laws in the hands of one person, is distinctly un-American.

Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?

don surber has the mutual admiration society that is conservative blogs down pat. that he was willing to follow dick cheney and david addington down the rabbit hole, and got sparkles in his pants over sarah palin, is embarrassing to the idea of independent thought and journalism.

I'll just remind you that we prosecuted people for the same techniques and called it torture.

Stevewvu has suddenly gone all Rodney King over Don Surber. (0.00 / 0)
If an avowed rightwinger ever suddenly starts bleating "why cain't we all get alooong?", it's probably because you've got 'em by the short n' curlies.

Surber's days on the Daily Mail are likely numbered because he's been wrong on far too many issues for him to get any traction on political issues in the Daily Mail. Staffers see him as a liability mainly because his circle of jerks within the media's print circulation radius has shrunken to where you could drown 'em all in the same tub. I'm thinking that they're getting ready to dump him, and that's why stevewvu has gone all Chris Crocker over him.

A feature not a bug (0.00 / 0)
For the Daily Mail's Republican audience, Surber being wrong so often is a feature not a bug.
