Don Blankenship's Labor Day Rally

Here's where Verizon Wireless was pleased to be on Monday...

Friends of America ~ Ted Nugent, Sean Hannity, Lord Monkton

I knew there would be some half-truths told, but I'm amazed at the number of out-and-out lies.

Don Blankenship CEO of Massey Energy

Oops, Don gives away the game at 0:27. "Today we are here to defend corporations."

A big kudos to MobileBroadcastNews for covering this event.

For what it's worth, in the comments on one of their videos MBN estimated 10,000 to 20,000 in attendance. (There were never any lines for concessions or port-a-potties.) I'm yet to see a picture that looked like more than that. If there was really 50,000 or more people there the area by the stage would have been packed.

Verizon Wireless and Don Blankenship (4.00 / 1)
A bust for both of them. How much did it cost Blankenship to get 10,000 or 20,000 even to show up at his rally?

How much did it cost Verizon Wireless to be a cosponsor in terms of lost customers and lost corporate goodwill? You can bet that Verizon Wireless has sent out word to local affiliates not to join up with anything like this again without corporate approval. And you can bet

For what we as the online community spent to organize the protest, it's a pittance versus what the corporations spent.

We have our creativity and energy and passion; they have money.

We got to work with national groups on a very quick basis and the lines of communication we built will pay off in the future.

You can bet Verizon Wireless won't stick their hands into our buzz saw again. The next time Don Blankenship calls Verizon, I bet the response will be, "Sorry, can't hear you now."

Don's Rally (4.00 / 2)
I can't help but laugh & shake my head at Donny's little outfit. Way back when, he would have gotten his ass kicked by other red necks for desecration of the flag, as did many others when they dared to show their patriotism by protesting the Vietnam war while wearing images of the flag, i.e. patches on their jeans or jackets. (Or, gasp! their own GI fatigues.) The irony is, Don would have been one of the ones doing the ass kicking. What a world!

Clown (4.00 / 1)
I thought he was dressed like a clown.

From Title 4 Section 8 paragraph d (4.00 / 2)
of the US Code: "The flag should never be used as wearing apparel..."  Even by clowns.

Once a criminal, always a criminal.
