CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Federal authorities have arrested nearly 50 members of the Pagan Motorcycle Club, including its national president and vice president, as part of Operation Twilight, an investigation into multi-state crime ring.
Five officers of the gang, including president David Keith "Bart" Barbeito, 49, of Myersville, Md., and vice president Floyd B. "Diamond Jesse" Moore, 64, of St. Albans, face federal racketeering charges.
The 44-count indictment, unsealed Tuesday, alleges members of the gang, under orders from Moore, kidnapped and beat a member of the Road Disciples Motorcycle Club in Huntington in 2003. The strong-arm tactics were an attempt to extort money from the smaller club.
The indictment also accuses Moore and other Pagan members of conspiring with a prison guard to kill an inmate they suspected was providing information to law enforcement.
