Pelosi calls out Capito, Republicans for stimulus hypocrisy

On Thursday, Arch Moore's daughter joined Republican Whip Eric Cantor, R-VA, and Rep. Scott Garrett, R-N.J. in a panel hosted by the rightwing activist Heritage Foundation to attack the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

House speaker Nancy Pelosi responded:

Pelosi, in an e-mail from spokesman Nadeam Elshami, pointed out Thursday that the legislation gave 282,000 of Minority Whip Eric Cantor's constituents tax cuts, in addition to providing tax breaks to Republican Reps. Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, Scott Garrett of New Jersey and Tom Rooney of Florida.

and:

Pelosi on Wednesday pointed out that Republicans have been to "ribbon cuttings" related to stimulus projects.

As this site and others have pointed out, Capito has tried to take credit for projects funded by the same recovery act that she opposed in lockstep with the House GOP.

Capito excels at hypocrisy. Too bad much of the media in the state allow her to get away with it, but their job seems to be rewriting her press releases than providing journalism.

When a man embarks upon a crime, he is morally guilty of any other crime which may spring from it. Sherlock Holmes.

I tried like crazy to find that "panel" you referenced. (0.00 / 0)
Normally I'm pretty good at finding at least a transcript of stuff like this, but I got nothin'.

Apparently, prior to Pelosi's criticism, that was a fairly broadly advertised forum, indicating that it was open for public scrutiny and participation. Now if you go to the Heritage site to check out what went on during that discussion, you'll find that all the lnks are missing.

I can only surmise that this "Heritage" liars fest was actually a closed door event, at least as far as the public is concerned.

It;s a pretty good indication that the national GOP's tent has shrunk to the point where the only elephants who still fit are all rat-sized.

That the local newspapers all completely overlooked the event indicates the likelihood of a serious rat infestation within our state's newsrooms.

The webpage plays the video but the MP3 will not download.

Good luck with one hour and a transcript.

Esteemed, respectable.

First Cantor, Capito, then Garret (also on House Financial), Rudy (Armed Services)
