This is the first report I have seen on the Memorial Service for the 29 miners who lost their lives.  Huffington Post just put this up.  Click here.

BECKLEY, W.Va. — They lived and they died pursuing the American Dream, working in dangerous conditions underground to help keep the lights on across the country, a somber President Barack Obama said Sunday in a eulogy to the workers who died in the worst mine accident in a generation.

The president told the families of the workers killed in the Upper Big Branch mine, about 35 miles from here, that the nation would honor their memories by improving safety in the mines.

Blackwaterdog has an excellent Diary with pictures at DailyKos that can be seen here.

Remarks/Statement to families
Upper Big Brach Memorial Service
April 25, 2010

Beckley, West Virginia

May Almighty God surround us and all who mourn here today with His comfort and compassion.

He will not let unending grief overwhelm His children, because our faith in Him soothes all bitterness and fear.

Let all Americans keep the families of these coal miners - these good husbands, fathers, brothers and sons - close to their hearts, that they may be comforted in their sorrow.

President Obama, Vice President Biden - let us strive to be instruments of God's help and mercy to the children, wives, sisters and mothers who grieve today, that our love and caring and friendship may help bring them the peace they seek and the resolution they deserve.

The Holy Bible reminds us that death is not to be feared, and that the promise of the Resurrection is there for the faithful. Through Him, we have the reassurance that our life will go on. On earth, the memory of these good men who lost their lives at the Upper Big Branch mine will go on too. They can never be replaced - and they will never be forgotten.

God bless each of you, my friends, my strength, my fellow West Virginians. And God bless the coal mining families of Appalachia.
