Manchin to sue EPA

Considering the majority of West Virginians oppose the destructive practice of mountaintop removal perhaps Joe Manchin really wants to lose his Senate bid to John Raese.

No "Fire in his belly" (4.00 / 1)

I am shocked that the veteran campaigner isn't out talking to folks all over the state to get their take on so many issues. Whoever is doing his strategy has told him to run to the right, and against the administration. It just isn't going to work. Talking to folks that are Republicans that normally would support Manchin it is obvious that Raese is getting to them particularly on the Cap and Trade issue.

The TV and radio ads are getting better, but he still needs to get on the street and mix with the folks who made him such a popular governor. The thought of Raese winning Senator Byrd's seat is sickening!

Joe Manchin = Martha Coakley? (4.00 / 1)
It's looking that way.  Sure seems like he didn't see Raese as much of a threat (in fairness, neither did many others, but the person running for office should know better) and, as alluded to above, it's very puzzling that someone who loves to press the flesh and has never met a tv camera that he doesn't love has been so invisible.

Manchin needs to campaign (4.00 / 1)
Remember what happened to Alan Mollohan.  He didn't fight back or counter Oliverio's attacks or campaign heavily and he got to retire early.  The same thing could happen to Joe if he doesn't campaign more effectively.

Hey Democrats (4.00 / 3)

Hey Democrats - Joe Manchin is just not that into you!

Then this morning during his press conference he had the gall to pluck a pocket Constitution from his breast while promising "in the spirit of Robert C. Byrd" to battle any president when he is wrong, no matter which party he belongs to.

Manchin should read Byrd's views on how the state should deal with coal and the EPA. Maybe go back and read the Constitution while he's at it. (Joe insinuated this is a 'states rights'" issue.)

Why is Joe so insistent on making it even harder for a Democrat  to vote for him?

He's just not that into us.

I think WVBLUEGUY (4.00 / 1)
Has a point.

One reason Obama didn't do better in WV was he didn't go around and BS people locally. Hillary did.

In the old documentary "If Elected" (avail from the state library and well worth watching) when Warren is hesitating to get out and talk up voters Darrel says "Get in the G*D*mn car, drive down to Sophie and shake a few hands!"

He had a point and I think it still applies.

If Manchin's as arrogant... (0.00 / 0)
as many feel he is, maybe he thinks that he doesn't (or shouldn't) have to go around shaking hands and kissing babies. The whole 'entitlement' thing, I guess.

Any bets on what he'll do for an encore (0.00 / 0)
Perhaps he'll don some KKK garb to prove once and for all that he is not a rubber stamp for Obama.
