They have no evidence of fraud to protect West Virginians from. This is just part of a nationwide effort by the GOP to intimidate voters and allow them to yell "voter fraud" after they lose. Talking Points Memo:
"We'll be watching courthouses, county clerks, absentee ballot filing, early voting protocols, how those things are done," Robert Cornelius of the West Virginia GOP told TPMMuckraker.
The Raese people are by their own words "lawyering up":
John Raese's campaign spokesperson Kevin McLaughlin confirmed that their campaign is 'lawyering up.' He said that they have retained attorneys, assigned volunteers and allocated funds for a possible recount. They also have been working with the state GOP as well as the National Republican Senate Committee to help co-ordinate recount efforts. McLaughlin also said that "we are already hearing many stories of irregularities in southern part of the state."
According to Lara Ramsburg, spokeswoman of the Manchin campaign, "The campaign is focused on getting out the vote on Election Day and we are confident that it will be the people, not lawyers, who will decide this election. " She added that, "We are making sure that we have all of the resources in place, whether through volunteers, get out the vote efforts, or legal preparations, to ensure that we're as prepared as possible for Election Day. We believe that momentum continues to build for Joe Manchin's campaign and that we'll see the clear results of that on November 2nd."
Mike Stuart, chairman of the state GOP confirmed that they were getting ready for all eventualities: "We are not being naïve in terms of election fraud we have had in West Virginia." He said that they are paying for 2000 signs to be posted across the state which say "Stop voter fraud" and have set up a hotline for people to report fraud.
The Republicans haven't even lost yet and they're already crying foul like a bunch of whiny ass titty babies.
