I agree the shale play has huge risks, but what is the alternative? What should our candidates be advocating?

That's a good question. What do you think is the alternative? I'd be happy with a candidate who made sure the basics of government were done well and am not looking for a game changer.

Remember the Gazette's story on the geothermal potential in the eastern half of the state?

"The SMU Geothermal Laboratory has increased its estimate of West Virginia's geothermal generation potential to 18,890 megawatts, assuming a conservative 2 percent thermal recovery rate. The new estimate ... exceeds the state's total current generating capacity, primarily coal based, of 16,350 megawatts."
