'Do WV political leaders believe in science?'

Ken Ward Jr. ponders the question at Coal Tattoo. Too many of our politicians bury their heads in the coal ash so they can't see the sky needs cleaned up.

No less than most people (4.00 / 2)
Despite the growing scientific consensus that global warming is real, Americans have become increasingly polarized on the environmental issue

http://www.sciencedaily.com/re...

more people believe in "climate change" than in "global warming."

http://www.sciencedaily.com/re...

Most Americans now agree that climate change is occurring, but still disagree on why, with opinions about the cause of climate change defined by political party

Is suspect their answers would have been slightly different if asked about climate change.

I think they needed to be asked more explicitly about balancing public health and environmental damage against jobs.

I keep reading more studies linking particulate matter pollution, which doesn't get much press, to all those ills WV has more of - obesity, diabetes, heart disease.  Maybe politicians and the public need more education on what coal may be doing to all of us - not just the ones drinking water from the Coal River watershed and living in earshot of the blasting.

Dead mayflies and arctic ice melting are one thing - your friends, family, neighbors with diabetes, heart disease, COPD are another.

Some do (4.00 / 1)
most don't....otherwise how else can you explain why
Coal is king, gas is queen, chemicals are the jester, and the joke is on the citizen of WV.
