You have your life - you have everything (0.00 / 0)
Occupy DC is tempting, but I'm thinking that, to people in WV, a body on the street in DC is just some kooky radical stranger.  A body in the street in Martinsburg or Charleston or Wheeling or Flatwoods is more likely to be a friend or neighbor who might have something to say.

I'm occupying Facebook for the time being - plenty of high-school classmates there who have completely bought in to "the Pakistanis and Chinese are trying to kill us" (seriously, in response to an MLK quote on non-violent protest) and "George Will has seen right through Elizabeth Warren" - right - liberals want to confiscate all property, make everybody wear gray pajamas and work in the fields.

On the other hand, there is my upper-middle-class well-educated left wing friend who told me we have a fascist state, completely missing the point of the article forwarded.

Maybe there is no hope.

Would You Join Me? (0.00 / 0)
I am sorry that this will end in another hour, however would you join me in an effort, that many others have done already?

I hope all is well with you. I am part of a grassroots effort to see if the people of America can nominate a true grassroots choice for the Politico Presidential primary. I thought it might be neat to nominate, my cousin, Charlotte Pritt for this endeavor. The reason why is as a legislator, educator, and a small businessperson, Charlotte Pritt can provide ideas, proven solutions for our country's problems. Unless a Perot-style draft effort happened, Charlotte is not really running for President, but this effort gives her a platform to talk about the issues free from political pressure.

The public has had it with Washington and conventional politics. It has lost trust and respect in the conventional governing class. There is mounting evidence voters don't see President Barack Obama or the current crop of GOP candidates as the clear and easy solution. As Democratic pollster Stan Greenberg argues, it seems likely if not inevitable an atmosphere this toxic and destabilized will produce an independent presidential candidate who could shake the political system.

If so, who? Is there a person in politics, business or entertainment who could harness the public's hunger for something new, different and inspiring?

The readers of POLITICO, Yahoo, Facebook and Twitter as well as viewers of MSNBC's "Morning Joe" to solicit ideas and ultimately vote on them. My idea is Charlotte Pritt.

Charlotte's record as a legislator, an educator, a small businessperson, and a product of a working class family would be a great symbol of whats great in America.

So will you go to : http://www.politico.com/politi... and nominate Charlotte Pritt for a choice from the grassroots.

Thanks!

Drew Pritt
