Raese gears up for fifth electoral loss

Despite being rejected by W.Va. voters in 1984, 1988, 2006 and 2010, Florida Republican and minimum wage opponent John Raese can't take 'no' for an answer, and is ready to waste the millions he inherited on yet another futile effort.

State Journal:

John Raese, who ran against Joe Manchin to complete Robert C. Byrd's unexpired U.S. Senate term in 2010, has filed to run for the same seat in 2012.

So expect another year's worth of annoying ad attack ads on your TV.

This announcement really illustrates Mike Stuart's failure as WV GOP chair, as it appears their 2012 strategy is to ignore party-building and candidate recruitment in favor of revisiting the same shallow pool of rich egotists and their vanity efforts.

Raese to West Virginia: Why can't I quit you?

When a man embarks upon a crime, he is morally guilty of any other crime which may spring from it. Sherlock Holmes.

Kicking of the campaign with his signature cluelessness (4.00 / 1)

According to the FlightAware online flight tracking service, Raese flew to Charleston from Palm Beach International Airport in his Cessna Citation jet, arriving at Yeager Airport at 3:34 p.m.

Raese's ownership of a house in an upscale section of Palm Beach became a campaign issue in 2010 -- particularly since his wife, Liz, is a resident of Florida.

Raese's stupid move could backfire and help the Democrats a bit in the fall. I imagine Gov. Tomblin will find it pretty easy to link Bill Maloney to Raese and campaign against the two  as out-of-touch, bazillionaire perennial candidates who keep trying to buy elections.

Raese on Hoppy today (0.00 / 0)
saying his family has lived and done business in WV since 1917 and Hoppy acted as he was 'surprised" at the announcement by Raese even though he gets his paycheck from him, go figure....let Phoney Maloney and Maessey Raese battle it out in the primary spending millions to run against another DINO for the general....not much to see here...move along now

Same Old Thing (1.00 / 1)
Why can't we find people to run who haven't spent the last 25 years running? My suggestion is to vote Independent or Third Party.

Your independent candidate (4.00 / 2)
is running on the same old thing, most of it not progressive, but regressive. And I eliminate candidates on the same basis I used to eliminate job candidates - if you can't spell and use correct grammar (or get someone to do it for you) on your application, either you aren't motivated or you are ignorant.

This is not the place for that, sir.
I do know that the person who registered this UID is also the one and only poster at the "independent" candidate's website.

Read the top banner of this site, please. Better yet, I'll spell it out.

D-E-M-O-C-R-A-T-I-C politics, that is, the politics of the party composed of Democrats.

again? (4.00 / 1)
Raese has money and influence over the media, but his lack of conviction, vision or leadership has reduced the WV Republican Party to serving as his personal ego stroking machine for the last 25 years. That was a time when they, frankly, could have pressed their advantage. They ought to be embarrassed. I'm embarrassed for them.  If Raese AND Romney are on the ballot this fall, opponents should hammer away at tying the "those boys were SUPPOSED to die" attitude of Blankenship Massey to the "those workers were SUPPOSED to be fired" attitude of Romney/Bain.  And run the connection right through Raese.  If we can't yet turn the page on their loathsome attitudes and tactics, we can at least, finally, relegate this particular cast of characters to the scrap heap of history.

There are no accidents (4.00 / 1)
Raese's entry will ensure that we have another 6 years of Joe Manchin III, unless Manchin runs for president in 2016. Ugh.
