| Perhaps the most amusing is this one from last session: HB 3081 --- "Permitting the use of reasonable corporal punishment by a teacher or administrator".
Savilla, a substitute teacher (no joke), wants to bring paddling back to West Virginia's public schools. Now, how would you feel about Delegate Savilla striking your child? I find the idea particularly disgusting that a 29 year-old substitute teacher wants the power to physically assault WV's children?
(BTW, doing a brief internet search, one can find the name Brian Savilla approximately age 30 of Winfield, WV associated with the screen name "italian_stallion8".)
He also co-sponsored HB 3079 to impose random drug testing on welfare and WV medicaid recipients. (He similarly co-sponsored the same bill in 2012.)
He has likewise co-sponsored resolutions to celebrate "school choice" (aka vouchers). Does anyone else find it ironic that a public school substitute teacher wants to basically eliminate public schools?
Last year, Savilla co-sponsored a resolution to make February 6 "Ronald Reagan Day".
Finally, Savilla made the following comment to the Herald-Dispatch back in April 2010 when he was first running for the House:
I will fight to bring back our moral foundation that has been severely damaged by corruption and activist groups.
So that's what the WV GOP is running against Secretary of State Natalie Tennant this year... the "italian stallion" who wants to spank your kids in his classroom, randomly drug test Medicaid patients, give your public money to private religious schools, and fight those so-called "activist groups" who have "[severely damaged] our moral foundation".
A REAL winner if you ask me. |
