For anyone interested, Fairmont State University will present a play in May telling the story of the Farmington #9 mine disaster through the eyes of family members of fallen miners, neighbors, clergymen, towns people and the impact this disaster had on their lives then and now.
"The purpose of this project is to preserve our collective memory and honor the stories of the miners, their families and friends," said Dr. Francene Kirk, Associate Professor of Communications and Theatre. "It is also our hope that by giving voice to their stories through theatre, we will create a forum for discussion about issues that are important to our culture and history."
Play dates: May 7, 8, & 9, 2009.
Tickets may be purchased by contacting the Fairmont State Box Office at 304-367-4240
